Editor’s Note: TheNotoriousB.I.G. (1972-1997), whose real name is Christopher George LaTorre Wallace, was born in Brooklyn, New York, USA. He is an American rapper, songwriter, and music producer.

In 1994, he released his first studio album "Ready to Die", thus becoming a central figure in the East Coast rap scene. On March 9, 1997, he was shot and killed by an unknown gunman in Los Angeles at the age of 24. Just after his death on March 25, his second studio album "Life After Death" was released. The album sold more than 11 million copies and produced two No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2009, his deeds were adapted into the biopic "Gangsta Rap Legend" and released. In 2020, he was inducted into the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The NotoriousB.I.G. is a phenomenal figure in the history of rap. He is known for his relaxed style, deep voice, and signature dark humor. However, as the flagship figure of East Coast rap in the United States, he became a victim of the gangsta rap struggle between the East and West coasts. Although his time of glory was short-lived, he had a profound impact on later generations of rap music.
