"This is the first time in 13 years that I went to the NBA to study and exchange, and I gained a lot." Recently, Chinese men's basketball head coach Guo Shiqiang shared his exchange and learning experience with the NBA Hawks.

Previously, Guo Shiqiang immersed himself in observing the team's training and operations in the Hawks. He not only gained a new understanding of NBA teams, but also brought back thoughts about team building, overseas player care and international cooperation. Guo Shiqiang introduced that the Eagles head coach has rich coaching experience and the team has 5 international players, including 3 European players. According to Guo Shiqiang's observation, many teams in the NBA today focus on outside play, and attach great importance to explosive power and speed. During this period, Guo Shiqiang also had in-depth exchanges with the Eagles coaching staff and management. The head coach of the Eagles told Guo Shiqiang that no matter what defensive strategy is used, the core is to capture the characteristics of different players. It depends on the characteristics of the players before making a choice. These words impressed Guo Shiqiang deeply.

This study also broke previous misunderstandings about NBA team training. "I've always heard people say that the NBA doesn't do return runs and has little training, but this time I saw it with my own eyes. That's not the case at all." Guo Shiqiang said that the Hawks' return run training is very frequent and intense. Although the Eagles did not have a long training session before preparing for the new season, the training schedule was compact. At the same time, Guo Shiqiang noticed that the NBA's use of technology is becoming more and more extensive. "The Hawks and Trail Blazers have seven or eight cameras on their basketball stands. They can count shooting percentages, analyze shot movements, and provide reports to coaches and players every day. This is very helpful for improving shooting skills." During the 13-day trip, Guo Shiqiang also went to Portland, San Francisco and New York to visit Chinese basketball players Yang Hansen, Wang Junjie, Zhao Weilun and Zeng Fanbo who were working hard overseas. "Seeing that they are very friendly, I also found that Chinese players overseas have great psychological ups and downs, and the logistical support received by individual players is insufficient."

In addition, Guo Shiqiang also brought back positive signals for international cooperation, including coach exchanges and recommending young players to play in the United States. "Going out more and cooperating more will be of great help to the growth of Chinese basketball coaches and players." Guo Shiqiang said.
