Pay attention to opponents, Warriors Cole talks about Edwards and the Timberwolves coach before the second round

Golden State Warriors just won the Houston Rockets in Game 7 Sunday night for an incredible victory. However, they have no time to celebrate, as the Minnesota Timberwolves are ready to go. The Warriors and Timberwolves will meet in the second round, with the first game set to be held Tuesday at the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Golden State Warriors are very clear that they need to keep an eye on Anthony Edwards throughout the series. The three-time All-Star was a key factor in the Timberwolves' 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round, and he hopes to go a step further against the Warriors in the Western Conference semi-finals.

Warriors head coach Steve Cole praised the Minnesota superstar guard. In fact, the four-time NBA Finals head coach was a little confused about how the team would deal with Edwards in the series — or at least that’s what he said.

"My main view is that he is really great," Cole said. "So I don't know how that will help us prepare for the game."

"But yes, Anthony is a great player and I love his energy. I love his infectious enthusiasm for the game. It's great to coach him."

Cole had the opportunity to coach Edwards this summer, and the 6-foot-4 (about 1.93 meters) defender played a key role in the US winning the Paris Olympic gold medal. Cole carefully observed the young man and his abilities, which was also why the Warriors coach praised Edwards.

However, Cole may also have some knowledge of Edwards' style of playing, and he may be able to use these experiences against the young superstar in the upcoming series.

Even so, Cole did not underestimate the threat posed by Edwards.

"There is a reason the Timberwolves can get to where they are today," Cole continued. "You know, it's directly due to their excellent organization and the formation of a very good roster. Chris [Finch] did a very good job as a coach."

"But the reason they got to where they are today is because Ant is a superstar. And you have to have such a player to build a great team. You know, it's him that made them."

The first game will start at 9:30 pm on Tuesday, May 6. Eastern Time from the Target Center.
