According to reports from FastbreakJournal reporter Grant Afseth, the Miami Heat are exploring various ways to enhance the depth of the team's frontcourt lineup before the 2025-26 season begins. Sources confirmed that several inside players such as Trey Lyles and Kai Jones have attracted the team's interest.

This offseason, the Heat solved the problem of outside players rotation, but they also lost Kevin Love and Haywood Highsmith in the trade, so the team is also looking for ways to improve their competitiveness in the frontcourt. Although the team has some other options besides Lyles and Jones, their two players also represent two completely different ways the team is trying to achieve this reinforcement goal. Lyles is an experienced veteran with a lot of playoff experience and is able to provide the team with space and diversity on the bench. Jones is a former first-round pick who has top athleticism and a lot of unexplored potential, and is also more worth nurturing. Both players have the skills to complement Miami's existing rotation.

In the NBA regular season last season, Jones played 40 times for the Los Angeles Clippers and the Dallas Mavericks, averaging 11.7 minutes per game, with averaging 5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.6 blocks, and 0.5 turnovers and 1.2 fouls. His shooting percentage was 79.8%, a three-point shooting percentage of 20%, and a free throw shooting percentage of 71.9%. In the NBA regular season last season, Lyles made a total of 69 appearances for the Sacramento Kings, averaging 19.6 minutes per game, with averaging 6.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.3 blocks, 0.6 turnovers and 1.2 fouls, with a shooting percentage of 42%, a three-point shooting percentage of 34%, and a free throw shooting percentage of 70%. Both players are currently in full free agent status, and the Heat can sign with one of them at any time. But the problem is that the Heat lineup already includes 14 players holding standard contracts, and they only have the last place left. The Heat were hard-hit by the No. 1 rich line, and their total salary has exceeded the luxury tax line by about 2 million US dollars, a difference of 7.39 million US dollars from the No. 1 rich line. Therefore, for the Heat, signing one of the two players means that the team's total salary must be further improved, and due to the full quota, the team's operating space will become more limited. I don’t know what operations the Heat will do next. Will they continue to strengthen the inside line?
