According to Rob Murrows, a reporter from Ball Report, Gabe Madsen, a backcourt player who previously represented the Golden State Warriors in this year's NBA Summer League, reached an agreement with the Miami Heat. Madsen received a training camp contract containing Exhibit 10 clauses from the Heat. Next, he also has the opportunity to launch a two-way contract through his performance in preseason and training camp.
Madsen was born in May 2001 and is 24 years old, 198cm tall and weighs 92kg. He is the undraft in this year's NBA draft. The Warriors provided him with a summer league contract shortly after the draft, allowing him to represent the team in the summer league. In the NCAA game last season, Madson made a total of 33 appearances for the University of Utah, where he was, with averaging 29.7 minutes per game, averaging 15.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.1 blocks, and 1.9 turnovers and 1.5 fouls. His shooting percentage was 37.1%, three-point shooting percentage was 32.2%, and free throw shooting percentage was 85.4%. Although Madson performed averagely last season, his offensive efficiency was not ideal, and his stability in outside shooting was not yet available, he was also a key figure at the University of Utah, and he has hit 100+ three-pointers in the past two seasons, which also made him the player with the most three-pointers in the history of the University of Utah.
In the previous NBA Summer League, Madson played 6 times for the Warriors, averaging 14 minutes per game, averaging 9.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1 steal, and 1.5 turnovers and 0.7 fouls. His shooting percentage was 50%, his three-point shooting percentage was 41.9%, and his free throw shooting percentage was 60%. Madson's performance in the summer league was definitely beyond everyone's expectations. His performance during the California Classics was very average, but in the California Summer League, his performance improved significantly. He had super scoring and shooting skills on the offensive end. Considering that he didn't play much, being able to perform like this was definitely far beyond everyone's expectations.
It is probably because he saw Madson's performance during the summer league that the Heat would provide him with such a training camp contract. Although Madson's performance in the NCAA arena is relatively average and has not made any substantial progress after several seasons, his scoring ability during the summer league is also beyond everyone's expectations. Considering that the Heat have extensive experience in digging out drafts, this is also an excellent opportunity for him. Maybe he will have the opportunity to show enough competitiveness and launch an impact on a two-way contract?
