The Lakers also officially announced that Timmy will wear Lakers jersey No. 17. The last player to wear Lakers No. 17 was Finney Smith. During this offseason, Finney Smith left the Lakers and joined the Rockets.

2.13-meter center Christian Koloko was officially waived by the Lakers. Koloko played 37 games for the Lakers last season, averaging 2.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 9.2 minutes per game.

Last season, Timmy played 9 regular season games for the Nets, averaging 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 28 minutes per game. In mid-October this year, Timmy was waived by the Nets and later joined the Lakers G League affiliate South Bay Lakers. This season in the G League, Timmy averaged 25.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4 assists and 1.2 steals in 25.5 minutes per game.
