Hupu November 07 News Since being selected for the national team for the first time in October 2023, Leverkusen captain Robert Andrich (31 years old) failed to be selected for the national team for the first time. This means there are currently no Leverkusen players in the Germany squad.

Considering Andrich's current performance, it is not surprising that national team coach Julian Nagelsmann left the defensive midfielder out of the national team roster. Andrich, who had been sent off twice before, recently said in an interview with "Sports Bild": "Unfortunately, I haven't really found my form this season."

Obviously, Andrich must worry about whether he can participate in the 2026 World Cup, which is his biggest dream. In 2025, the regular starter at the European Cup was called up eight times but only played a total of 17 minutes in three brief appearances. The last time he played 90 minutes on behalf of the German national team was against Hungary on November 19, 2024. The two sides ended in a 1-1 draw.

"I really hope that Andrich can realize his dream. I want to do everything I can to help him play the best game for Leverkusen so that he can have the opportunity to return to the national team. Andrich is a very good player and he has made a huge contribution for us as captain. He is very important to me," Leverkusen head coach Kasper Jurmand emphasized.

Andrich is expected to return to Leverkusen's starting lineup against his old club Heidenheim on Saturday after serving his Champions League ban. He has represented Heidenheim in 25 appearances in the Bundesliga and twice in the German Cup.
