Carragher: I don t think clubs, players, and fans are very interested in the new Club World Cup

May 23rd News Carragher talked about the topic of this summer's Club Cup when attending a meeting organized by CBS.

Carragher said: "To be honest, I can't be interested in this event at all. Football can never stagnate. It must continue to develop and new things will appear so that players, coaches and fans around the world can keep the interest of football. This is why football has become the world's number one sport. However, when it comes to the (restructured) Club World Cup, I feel that FIFA did not take into account the interests of players and clubs when organizing this event. FIFA may be thinking that we only have a World Cup every four years, and UEFA has the Champions League every year, and the Champions League can bring huge economic benefits. FIFA therefore tries to create something new, but I think clubs, players, fans are not very interested in the new Club World Cup."

"I am a super fan, but I can't imagine that I'll give up the holiday this summer to watch the Club World Cup. I think I might forget it is being held. At present, the players and coaches don't seem to really want to participate in this event, which is a very sad situation for a new event. When will the players get a break? In the future, players will have a (full) summer vacation every four years, which is obviously unreasonable. The way in the past was very good, and the game was held every two years. I don't support the (new Club World Cup) event now, but maybe I will be proven wrong in the future, but if players don't want to participate and coaches don't want to go, then I think there is a problem with the event itself."
