As Erling Haaland hits another goal record, we take a look at the players who reached the 100-goal milestone in the Premier League in the fewest games.

Ranking of the fastest players to reach 100 goals in the Premier League

1. Alan Shearer-124 games

2. Harry Kane-141 games

3. Sergio Aguero-147 games

4. Thierry Henry-160 games

5. Mohamed Salah – 162 games

6. Ian Wright – 173 games

7. Robbie Fowler – 175 games

8. Les Ferdinand – 178 games

9. Michael Owen – 185 games (tied)

9. Andrew Cole - 185 games (tied)

Alan Shearer: 124 games

If the Premier League had been renamed a few years earlier, Alan Shearer's total goal record in the Premier League might have been even more brilliant - before the Premier League was established in 1992, he had already scored many goals for Southampton in the old English League One.

But it was precisely the time when the Premier League was established, which perfectly matched his scoring explosion period, which eventually made him the top scorer in Premier League history and secured the top spot on this list.

On August 15, 1992, the opening day of the first Premier League season, Shearer scored twice in Blackburn's 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace, scoring his first Premier League goal.

He reached 50 goals in the Premier League in just 66 games (ranked third on the list of fastest 50 goals in the Premier League). Then he gained momentum and scored 50 goals in 58 games. On December 30, 1995, in Blackburn's 2-1 victory over Tottenham, Shearer scored his 100th goal in his 124th Premier League game, a record that has yet to be broken.

Harry Kane: 141 games

Kane's start at Tottenham was not smooth. This forward is a late bloomer and did not completely lock in the main position of the first team until he was 21 years old.

The most amazing thing about his inclusion on this list is that his initial scoring efficiency was not very high - he only scored 3 goals in the first 19 Premier League games, and it took 90 games to reach 50 goals, 25 games slower than Andrew Cole, and 42 games slower than Erling Haaland.

But then Kane ushered in a period of scoring explosion, scoring 50 goals in just 51 games (including 6 hat tricks during this period), and finally reached the 100-goal milestone in the Premier League in 141 games.

His 100th Premier League goal was dramatic - in February 2018, in Tottenham's 2-2 draw with Liverpool, Kane equalized the score with a penalty kick in the 95th minute, unlocking his personal achievement of 100 Premier League goals.

Sergio Aguero: 147 games

Manchester City legend Aguero got off to a very fast start in England, scoring 8 goals in his first 5 Premier League games. However, he failed to maintain this efficiency for a long time, and it took him 81 games to reach 50 goals - during which he hit a low point from the end of 2012 to the beginning of 2013, scoring only 8 goals in 25 games.

Aguero then resumed his shooting boots and used full firepower to help Manchester City win the 2013-14 Premier League championship, eventually reaching 100 Premier League goals in 147 games.

On April 19, 2016, in Manchester City's 1-1 draw with Newcastle, Aguero scored his 100th Premier League goal. At that time, Manchester City, coached by Manuel Pellegrini, was gradually declining, and finally ended the 2015-16 season in fourth place.

Thierry Henry: 160 games

One of the greatest and most important players in Arsenal's history, his start in England was not smooth.

Henry had no goals and no assists in his first seven Premier League games. After scoring his first goal in the eighth game in September 1999 (1-0 victory over Southampton), Henry went through four consecutive games without goals.

But Henry was almost unstoppable after that. It took him 83 games to reach 50 goals in the Premier League, then 77 games to score the next 50 goals, and finally unlocked the 100-goal achievement in 160 games.

In February 2004, Henry scored twice when Arsenal defeated Southampton, the first of which was his 100th Premier League goal. That season, he helped Arsenal complete the only "undefeated title" feat in Premier League history.

Mohammed Salah: 162 games

Salah's English career began at Chelsea - between 2014 and 2015, he played 13 Premier League games for the Blues and scored only 2 goals. After moving to Liverpool in 2018, his scoring efficiency ushered in a qualitative leap.

If we only count the Liverpool period, Salah only needed 151 games to reach 100 goals, which is enough to move up one place in this list. But since we are counting the total statistics of the Premier League career (including the Chelsea period), he finally reached 100 goals in the Premier League in 162 games. On September 12, 2021, Salah scored his 100th Premier League goal when Liverpool defeated Leeds United 3-0.

Will Erling Haaland break the record?

Currently, Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has scored 96 goals in 105 Premier League games. This means that if he wants to break Shearer's record, he needs to score 4 goals in the next 18 Premier League games.

Haaland already holds the record for the fastest 50 goals in the Premier League. Now it seems that he is very likely to break the record for the fastest 100 goals in the Premier League.
