I think this comes naturally. Once on the field, I will become very competitive. I am indeed quite quiet in the new team, but football will stimulate my desire for competition in my bones, which I think is a good thing.

Actually, I first learned the news after the game with Crystal Palace. At that time, Tuchel went to watch that game, and he chatted with me, saying that he appreciated my performance, and also mentioned that I might be selected for the national team. I was so happy and very excited to hear this. Then on Friday morning, I officially received the news of being selected at the training base. So when I went to training that day, I kept a smile on my face. Tuchel also went to see our European Youth Championship before. This time he told me that I should perform like I did in the European Youth Championship and be myself, and at the same time bring that vitality to the team. I will try my best to do it.

How many opportunities do you think you have to play this time? There are actually many uncertainties in the midfield position now, and it seems that only Declan Rice's position is relatively stable. So, is this a good opportunity for you?

I think it is indeed an opportunity. Although there are many very good players in the midfield and the competition is fierce, I have to believe in myself and hope to play my role here.

There has been a lot of discussions about Nuno (Santo)’s future in the past week, and you will also have contract renewal negotiations in the future. I guess you definitely hope that when this training camp is over and he can continue to be the head coach, right?

Of course. Nuno helped me a lot, but now I am only focusing on this national team training camp to make sure I am the best I can do here. When I get back to the club, I will focus on the club's affairs again.

This time Morgan Gibbs-White was selected with you, and he is now a regular visitor to the national team. Does having him come with you make you feel more comfortable? Are you looking forward to playing with him?

Of course, I'm looking forward to it. Morgan is my good friend in Nottingham Forest. He helped me get used to the training camp here quickly and took me to meet other people on the team. So it feels different to have a friend around you, it feels much more comfortable.

Eliott, what do you think Nuno will help you grow? What is his core coaching philosophy? What do you think he taught you and what changes have you made?

I feel that he gave me full freedom to show my own characteristics on the court. He really trusts me, and that's the most important thing. He also told me, "Play as you do when you are in training" - this sentence has helped me a lot. He gave me the space to play freely in the team and also provided me with a platform to perform well.

How special is it to win the European Youth Championship this summer? Moreover, Tuchel has clearly stated before that he has always been optimistic about you, but hopes that you will go to the European Youth Championship to accumulate experience in the competition first. Now that you have this experience, do you think the World Cup is a realistic goal for you? You can join, do you think you can adapt to it in such an environment?

Competition experience is not common, and the experience of the European Youth Competition has indeed allowed me to accumulate a lot of competition experience. If I can be selected into the World Cup squad, these experiences should help me. So that experience is definitely helpful, especially the feeling of playing in the competition, which is very valuable.

St. George's Park actually had a plan long ago. We must first let the U21 team win and create a successful youth training system so that the adult team can continue to replenish fresh blood. Will there be any change in your mentality when you hold up the championship trophy? Do you think you have become a better player now than before? What did you gain from that championship?

I think when you win such a trophy, your mentality will be different - once you have tasted the taste of winning the championship, you will not be satisfied with just one trophy and will want to win more. So that championship gave me extra motivation and made me want to continue to win, no matter which event or trophy it was. So what I have to do now is to work hard to improve myself every day, put myself in the best state, and strive to win more honors.

Tuheer has called in even fewer players this time, just to intensify position competition. Has he ever told the whole team about the simpler lineup and more fierce competition?
