05 May 21st, Sun Xingmin's father Sun Xiong was sentenced to three months of ban on suspicion of abuse of children.

Coach Sun Xiongzheng is Son Heung-min's father. Coach Sun and other three SON Football Academy were sentenced to a fine of 3 million won (about 16,000 yuan) by Chuncheon District Court in October last year for suspected violation of the Child Welfare Act. The court also ordered the three to complete a 40-hour child abuse treatment course.

South Korea reported on the 21st that the Sports Fair Committee of the Gangwon Do Football Association (hereinafter referred to as the Committee) imposed a three-month ban on Coach Sun and Coach A and a six-month ban on Coach B.

Instructors who are suspended shall not participate in all events sponsored by the sports association and related groups until the punishment is over.

This case originated from the report of the victim child C on March 19 last year. C said: "During the training camp in Japan on March 9, the coach of SON Football Academy hit C's thigh with a corner club (plastic corner flag), causing injuries that require two weeks of treatment."

The whistleblower stated in the police investigation: "A player of C team who lost in the game at that time was asked by the coach to run from the goal to the center line within 20 seconds for losing. C and four others failed to complete within the specified time and were forced to accept the punishment of hitting the hips in a prone position."

According to Yonhap News Agency, Coach Sun and three others were dissatisfied with the punishment and recently applied for a retrial.
