November 20th: Karius was interviewed recently and talked about what he learned at Liverpool.

Karius spent six years with Liverpool and left the team free at the end of the 2021-22 season. The goalkeeper will join Newcastle on a free transfer in September 2022 and will leave the team when his contract with Newcastle expires in June 2024. He then spent several months without a club until Schalke signed him for free in January. The former Liverpool man has established himself as the Bundesliga club's first-choice goalkeeper this season and is leading the team towards their desperate goal of returning to the Bundesliga.

So far, Karius has played 13 times for Schalke, completed 6 games with zero seals, and conceded 11 goals. The goalkeeper is receiving praise that may be reminiscent of his early career in Germany.

Schalke teammates praised Karius' role as a leader, and he said: "Of course it mainly depends on my performance, but yes, I have experienced a lot in my career and I hope to be a role model for young players. They can look to me for guidance in certain situations. And my job is to make them feel confident."

"It's important that as an experienced player I show the necessary commitment. I remember when I was young, it was easy for me and maybe someone could have a chat or two and it would be good for me. Asked what he meant by "talking would be beneficial," Karius said: "I probably could have trained more. Over the years, for me, it's all about progress and maybe you do a little less than you can." There’s a lot more time devoted to the body now, especially at Liverpool, and I realize how much professionalism means on a day-to-day basis. The players’ lives are built around success and the atmosphere in the gym is very motivating.”
