May 5th According to the Marca report, Real Madrid once again showed strong interest in Arsenal center back Saliba. Although Saliba's contract with Arsenal will expire in 2027, he has not ruled out the possibility of joining Real Madrid, which has been following him for many years.
In the latest game, Saliba played against Bournemouth for Arsenal and his performance was still steady. According to the "Team News", Saliba may become the focus of the transfer market this summer, while Real Madrid is one of its main competitors.
Last week, Marca Radio reported that Saliba was Real Madrid's priority signing target. This season, due to injury issues between Militon and Rudiger, as well as the occasional guest appearances of Asensio and Joan Armeni, Real Madrid urgently need to strengthen the defense line.
Although Alaba is also competent for the central defender position, the club considers Saliba to be a reliable and young and experienced option, and he has performed very well in both Arsenal and French national teams.
Saliba's advantage is that his contract will be long before it expires, which gives him a certain bargaining chip. If he decides to leave Arsenal, he may join Real Madrid as free agent in the future.
However, Arsenal coach Arteta has repeatedly expressed his hope to retain the core player and has proposed a contract renewal to resist the interests of other giants. Therefore, if Real Madrid wants to sign Saliba, they may have to pay a transfer fee of up to 100 million euros.
