In an interview with the Sun on August 14, Chelsea legend Terry said that his coaching career is over.
Terry, 44, has served as an assistant coach in Villa and Leicester City. He is currently a Chelsea Youth Training Academy. He said: "My coaching career is over. I enjoy my life very much. Now I work at Chelsea Youth Training Academy. My job is part-time. I like to be with my children and I like to pass on my experience and knowledge to them. Actually, I am not coaching, but a mentor and ambassador."
"I changed a few jobs, and those days are over. I now enjoy my life, have my own time, can play golf, work in the Youth Training Academy, and have some time to accompany my family. I balance it all well."
However, Terry is also doing it to himself. I was frustrated when I didn't get the opportunity to coach, and he said: "I absolutely yearn for coaching. I had a lot of experience around Dean Smith when I was at Villa. We successfully upgraded. It was awesome. As an assistant coach in the Premier League, and my experience playing at Chelsea and England, I thought it was enough to get me a job. I didn't say job opportunities in the Premier League or the Championship, but I didn't even get the chance. I had a few interviews and the reply was just, 'You don't have experience'.
Seeing how some people coach today really confused me. As for whether I was frustrated, yes, absolutely, because I also have a lot of excellent qualities and can be a good coach, unfortunately, this didn't happen."
