Mavericks rumor: What is the "pusher" that Nico Harrison won t be fired?

An NBA insider believes that despite public opposition, the Dallas Mavericks have no plans to fire Nico Harrison.

Recently, the Dallas Mavericks won the draft draw and had the chance to pick Duke's outstanding player Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 pick, which shocked the entire NBA. While Mavericks fans were excited, many in the NBA were upset by the incompetence of the team’s management, especially General Manager Nico Harrison and his infamous Luca Doncic deal, which seemed to pay off.

Since Harrison shockedly traded Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in early February, calls for him to step down have been high, but recently, NBA insider Mark Stan revealed that there is no such plan yet.

"League sources say that since the Mavericks lost to the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA playoff playoffs on April 18, Patrick Dumont, the new Las Vegas-based shareholder, has visited Dallas several times," Stan reported. "These visits will only make people more convinced that Dumont still supports the much-maligned general manager Nico Harrison, the main decision-maker in the current management of the Mavericks."

Some people believe that Harrison may be regarded as a scapegoat for demanding a trade in Doncic, which may explain the immature basketball reasons Harrison tried to provide after the deal. Regardless of the truth, the situation in Dallas management doesn’t seem to change in the near term.

Dallas' huge opportunity

Although the Doncic trade has caused a lot of pain to the Mavericks, the selection of Cooper Flag in June is still an excellent opportunity to get back on track.

While Flag may not be able to reach a perennial MVP level like Doncic (few people can do it), he is still one of the most sought-after rookies of the century, and in theory he can not only be a perfect partner with Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis next season, but also lay a solid foundation for the Mavericks' future.

Some fans are already worried that Harrison will choose to trade Flag's draft pick in exchange for a winning player, but Stan also said there is no such plan yet. The

NBA Draft is scheduled to be held in late June.
