According to The Athletic reporter Dan Woike, the Los Angeles Lakers have signed Jarron Cumberland, a backcourt player who was previously in free agency. In order to make room for Cumberland's signing, the Lakers have cut off Arther Kaluma, a striker who previously held a training camp contract with Exhibit 10.

Cumberland was born in September 1997. She just turned 28 years old, 196cm tall and weighed 93kg. She was the undraft in the 2020 NBA Draft. Cumberland played for the Portland Trail Blazers briefly in the NBA. He has made 3 appearances in the NBA regular season, averaging 4.1 minutes per game, averaging 0.7 points, 1 rebound, 0.3 assists, and 0.7 fouls, shooting percentage of 50% and 0% three-point shooting percentage. In the previous few seasons, Cumberland spent most of his time in the NBA Development League, and during this period he also played odd jobs in the Mexican and Canadian leagues.

Last season, Cumberland first played for the Delaware Blueshirts, a NBA Development League team under the Philadelphia 76ers. He played a total of 38 games in the NBA Development League, averaging 28.5 minutes per game, averaging 15.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 0.7 blocks, 2 turnovers and 2.1 fouls, shooting percentage of 46.1%, three-point shooting percentage of 42.6%, and free throw percentage of 80.6%. After the NBA Development League season, Cumberland moved to the Mexican League. He made a total of 14 appearances in the Mexican League, averaging 29.8 minutes, averaging 17.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.3 blocks, and 1.8 turnovers and 2.2 fouls. He shot 41.7% from the field, 37.5% from three-point shooting percentage and 82.5% from free throws. He then moved to the Canadian League. He played 5 games in the Canadian League, averaging 21.8 minutes per game, averaging 7.6 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.2 blocks, and 2.2 turnovers and 2.8 fouls. He shot 36.1% from the field, 30.4% from three-point shooting percentage and 100% from free throws.

Judging from Cumberland's overall performance, he has shown certain characteristics in the NBA Development League. Not only does he have good scoring skills, he also has some passing and organizational talents. However, in the overseas league, his performance was still slightly worse and did not show particularly outstanding personal abilities. Considering that the Lakers' NBA Development League team, the South Bay Lakers, had already obtained Cumberland's NBA Development League signing rights in previous transactions, if nothing unexpected happens, the Lakers will also cut Cumberland in the next step, and he will also join the South Bay Lakers after the start of the new season. I don’t know what kind of performance he can perform in the NBA Development League in the new season.
