US media lists 6 best potential destinations for Tangiero Russell this summer

According to Nico Martinez, a special contributor to US sports media F/W. It will be a busy summer in the NBA, with veteran point guard Russell expected to be one of the most famous people in many transfers. He was traded to the Nets in December, trading with the Lakers for electric fans and Milton. This is his second time back here, but his future is again questioned as the Nets engage in trade negotiations throughout the league. Russell was selected with the second overall pick in 2015, and his NBA career was filled with many ups and downs, and over the past 10 years, he has been on four different teams. He averaged 17.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.7 assists in his career and is a good fit for point guard position, but his worth is a little slim given his shortcomings as a competitor and outside defender.

For the Nets, to really get out of the situation, trade their last remaining veterans for some draft picks/players, and prepare for the future. Russell will join the free agent market this summer, and currently, there are six teams that are potential landing sites, and all are expected to show some interest in the experienced point guard.

Brooklyn Nets

Russell's most likely destination is to return to the Nets. Since they will have a lot of cap space this summer (up to $53 million), they can sign no problem with any player they want to keep, even some of them they never have. Unless the Nets sign a star or big-name player, they may at best be a mid-range team for the foreseeable future. As a capable shooter, ball handler and passer, Russell brings a lot of stuff and is the perfect choice to keep the point guard position until a better answer is found. There is a lot of uncertainty happening in the future of the Hawks now. With Capela becoming a free agent, this could be a signal for the Hawks to try something new. While they don’t have the cap flexibility to sign big names, they still have $14.1 million worth of intermediate Terry, who might sign Russell directly. If not, the Hawks can always choose to trade Russell for Trae Young. While unlikely, the Hawks are becoming increasingly desperate, and the acquisition of Russell (whether in a free agent or a signing deal) will be the first step to make the most of the whitelist and finish the Eastern Conference’s path to redemption next season. The only viable way for them to get Russell is to sign a deal, and it may have to involve some big names like Ball, Johnson and two first-round picks. Alternatively, the Hornets could try pairing the guards together to form an elite shooting backcourt. In any case, as they accumulate draft picks, the Hornets will hope that players will remain competitive during tough times and set an example for younger players. Apart from the playoff experience, Russell's skills as a shooter should make it easier for all his teammates on the court.

The Washington Wizards

After winning only 18 games last season, it's hard to get worse if you're the Wizards, and Russell is sure to offer a big boost in the backcourt. Furthermore, in terms of his offensive ability, there is reason to think that he might be a valid partner next to Poole. The Wizards need to go through signings and trades, and they will give up Smart or Brogdon and future first-round picks. As a young team looking to the future, Russell may be the one who helped them lead the charge in the offense before Washington finds their next big star.

The Sacramento Kings

The Kings currently have no starting point guard after trading Halliburton and Fox. But if they are willing to give up with DeRozan or Monk, they can join Russell in the signing deal. In terms of his shooting and scoring ability, he will be a big driving force in the backcourt of Sacramento and an ideal partner around LaVin, who has played for the Timberwolves for a season with Russell.

New Orleans Pelicans

New Orleans Pelicans are not ready to give up Zion Williamson, but it is clear that they need to make changes before they fight for the championship. Going into next season, they trust Murray and McCollum’s partner, but there are concerns that the pair are too small. For Russell, the perimeter defense is still a problem, but he at least has the speed that can help him gain an advantage when facing higher defenders. If Bruce Brown agrees to sign the deal, the Pelicans can give up Bruce Brown in the deal, or they can pack Jones, Olinick and a future second-round pick. As a beast in the inside, Zion plays at his best when surrounded by shooters, and even if Russell doesn’t score consistently, the team still respects his range enough that he consistently pulls out the space to create opportunities for the team.
