Connat: My agent met with the club last week, but there is no specific progress in the renewal negotiations

May 27th Liverpool defender Conat was interviewed by the media on the bus at the team's championship parade, and the French international talked about the situation and progress of his personal contract renewal.

"I know I have a lot of goals in this club, to be the leader, to win everything. To be honest, I'm very happy here. This is another round of conversations between me and the club and my agent, and we'll see what happens in the coming weeks, I don't know when, but we'll focus on progress, and that's all I can say," Connat said.

When asked if the negotiations were going on, Connat responded: "It's not really going on, but my agent met with the club last week, but I don't know what the outcome will be. I can't tell what the agent said to me, but we'll see what's going on next."

"I just want to say one thing: All the relevant content you see on social media is totally false. I've never even asked for anything from the club. They made a offer to me and I responded accordingly, that's all. The rest of the statements, like I want to wait until the contract ends, are all false." Connat continued.

"There was a report last November that I was very close to signing. I thought to myself, 'Ah, they know better than myself' because it wasn't true at all, so I was a little angry. I knew there was a time when people would think I didn't want to renew my contract, but I've never been close to signing. We'll see what happens next. First, I'm so happy because we won the Premier League trophy and we need to enjoy this moment, have a good rest, and hopefully next season is better than this season," Connate said.

Connate's current contract with Liverpool is about to expire next summer. Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and other teams are paying attention to his situation. Liverpool definitely does not want the French international to enter the last year of the contract.
