Effenberg: One reason Karl has performed well is that he is not yet the focus of attention

"He is very talented, he is a good football player. Another advantage he has is that he has three players in front of him - Luis Dias, Harry Kane and Michael Olise - and they are all marked and sometimes double-teamed," Effenberg said on Sport1's "Doppelpass" program. This gives Karl "a certain amount of room to move. The focus at the moment is not on him, but on the other three top forwards."

Another Bundesliga veteran, Jermaine Jones, refuted those who called for Karl to not be in the football spotlight too much. "On the contrary, I think his status should be raised and he should be more in the public eye," said the 44-year-old former player.

"Karl has extraordinary ability and he learns something new every day at Bayern Munich. If he can take it all in, which I'm sure he can, then you have a very good player on your hands," Jones said. "You should support him but also give him full freedom. In the game, he can do everything the coach asks. So why not let him play every weekend?" The former Schalke 04 player emphasized that professional football is a "highly competitive industry."
