Official: Premier League whistle Michael Oliver will enforce the World Cup qualifiers in Spain vs Turkey

September 5th, the Spanish Football Association officially confirmed that British referee Michael Oliver was appointed to enforce the World Cup qualifiers against Spain.

The FIFA-appointed England referee is 40 years old and has been an international referee since 2012. Michael Oliver will enforce the law. Turkey will play against Spain at home in the early morning of September 8. The match will be held at the Biukesheir Beledi Stadium in Konia.

The 40-year-old British referee was born in Ashton and has been an international referee since 2012 and an elite UEFA referee since 2018, with rich international competition experience. He has played 7 national teams, the most recent in the semi-finals of the UEFA National League against France last year, with Spain winning 5-4.

Oliver's compatriots Stewart Burt and James Maine Valin will serve as linebackers. Australian referees Jared Gillett and Andrew Madley will also serve as fourth officials. VAR will be led by British Darren England and his fellow countryman Chris Cavana (Assistant VAR).
