Wang Shuang thanks the AFC for creating a new platform for women’s football clubs, and will be proud whether she wins or not.

On October 17, the AFC annual awards ceremony ended, and Wang Shuang missed the best female football player of the year award. Despite this, Wang Shuang still posted a message on his personal social media to thank the AFC.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the AFC for creating a new platform for women’s football clubs - the AFC Women’s Champions League, thus writing history. We are very honored to see our Chinese women's football club win the first championship title in history.

I am also very grateful to be one of the nominees for the Best Player Award. Regardless of whether I win or not, I'm very proud - proud of what our club has achieved for women's football in China, and proud of myself.

Finally, I would like to thank the AFC again for its outstanding efforts in promoting women’s football across Asia. I sincerely wish Asian football - and women's football in particular - greater success in the future. The best is yet to come!
